The inhuman and barbaric killings of our young sisters Leighandre Jegels and Uyinene Mrwetyana including news of another our young Mazizini High School Grade 12 girl who was discovered raped and killed in Gxarha Village outside Dutywa, sad death of East London Red Alert clerk women Angelique Clark-Abrahams who was brutal beaten by a men, and the developments again of hanging to death of 4 children in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal by their father are the signs of the animality our country is becoming and most clear signals of an end to what used to be called ‘Indoda’ or ‘uTata’ or ‘Umyeni’, or ‘Ubhuti’.
These barbaric and inhuman killings by some of us so called or in name of a men need urgent solution including state of emergency declared. I’m writing this letter in pain as a men and father to our President Cyril Ramaphosa, the ANC leadership, Opposition parties, the Eastern Cape Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane and other Premiers, the Traditional leaders, the Faith Based Organizations and unfunded Non-Governmental Organizations to come together and have a common agreement and indeed the President be urgent influenced together with Ministry of Justice and Chief Justice to open separates courts for rapists, abusers of women and killers of innocent souls.
In these courts be strictly for these animals who vacated their mandates of being fathers and lovers. Bail issue be not even entertained or discussed in these courts and indeed compulsory sentencing of 35 years or above with no parole option be imposed and agreed on because no one can justify killing, rape and abuse even if a men is emotional abused by either wife or girlfriend. Another suggestion to those in power and mostly President and Justice Department is to have a separates prisons for these people and be maximum centres built underground with no family visitors or friends allowed.
These maximum specified prisons be for strictly rapists and killers of women and threatened differently from other prisoners because our current jails including Maximums are like hotels only difference is separation of inmates from community but they enjoyed more in current prisons than those digging deep outside to address their socioeconomic needs with three meals a day, TV access, education and etc.
Its a time for these months left towards the end of 2019 be declared as ‘State Emergency’ in addressing harshly these inhuman killings and as men we must not sit instead persuade government to support NGOs such as Men For Change, Brothers For Life, Ubudoda Luthando and others. I’m also calling to those in power again not to focus only on “Take a Girl Child to Work”, also have a “Take a Boy Child to Work”. The separation of boys from girls is dangerous too.
In conclusion those men or father’s who gave birth and abandoned their kids need not only pay maintenance support but be held accountable by facing justice system and even be locked if are not co- parenting and are abandoning their kids vulnerable. No kids without a fathers so its a time to look in all sides and flip the coin but again that doesn’t justify rape, abuse, abandonment and murder.
We as men and fathers let’s in our corners such as wards, branches, churches, taverns and other social gatherings stop to be silent and discuss these issues. Our country is becoming a animal state because of what supposed to be called ‘Indoda’. Our Mothers, and Sisters must also be pillars of education to their daughters and doing so prepares them to see outside life directly and in positively manners. To the President, ANC leaders, opposition leaders, Premiers, Traditional leaders, Judiciary and Mayors including Faith Based please welcome my open letter and use it in fighting this barbaric killings of our honest young sisters and our mothers.
About drugs being a major contributor also cannot dwell much because our Police (SAPS) are there although large portion of them are on payrolls of drug lords. Its a difficult situation and need sober minds including sober law enforcement heads be vigilant enough. To all the families who are suffering because of these barbaric inhuman killings please find comfort and know that God will never forsaken you.
May the souls of your daughters and family members rest in eternal peace. I’ m closing by bible verse to gain strength in book of Isaiah 41 verse 10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
We are not happy indeed angry as Amadoda okwenyani.
